INTERESTING POINTS AND DATES OF INTEREST:

Oct 12th:  Pinky born,  (Columbus Day, l942)

Oct 17th: Pinky died (1967) Washington announced Medal of Honor same day, exactly 2 years later (1969)

Oct 31st: Pinky buried (1967) Halloween & Home Coming Day, Tift County High School (ain’t that just like Pinky?)

Oct 31st, 1969 Medal of Honor presentation was exactly 2 years from the date of burial...Halloween, again

1st Lt. (later, LtC.) Clark Welch (“Black Lion” company commander 2/28th) Pinky’s CO, is from Durham, NH

and....ironically, Col. Ralph Puckett, a great Tifton hero, was Clark Welch’s mentor at Ranger School and they have been good friends ever since.

Sgt Donald W. Pipkin,  also from Tifton, wounded in the same battle (10/17/67) was with Co A, 2/28th,(Another “Black Lion”)
